What is Drinking in Public?

Good question, man.

It’s a few things.

First and foremost, it’s an archive for drink recipes, mostly cocktails, inspired by righteous indignation about secret recipes. Too many in the beverage industry get off on making it all seem so dang inaccessible and esoteric. To hell with that! Good drinks ought to be closer to right than to privilege.

Drinking in Public is geared towards the serious enthusiast or the budding professional, but, knock on wood, it’s useful for any thirsty person.

Drinking in Public is also a love letter to the public domain, and is decorated entirely with publicly owned art.

Art and recipes come together in Drinking in the Public Domain, an ongoing series of chapbooks full of recipes and fine art. Digital copies are available, free of charge, right here on this website. Hard copies are available for purchase on the homepage.

I sure hope you enjoy the site and recipes.

Excelsior.
